# 2142  Tuesday: Section Five Wins Two in NYS Quarter Finals

Section Five won two out of three as Penn Yan beat Silver Creek 17-6 and Canandaigua beat Hamburg 17-3. Webster Thomas fell to Orchard Park in the Class A game 22-10. In the three games, the combined scores were 61-19. Two of the games went into running time, with the third (Penn Yan) being decided with an 11 goal differential.

Fairport beat Schroeder 9-8, Thomas beat Pittsford 10-8, Canandaigua beat Brighton 15-7 and Irondequoit was a 12-5 winner over McQuaid Jesuit. In the other Class C game, Penn Yan defeated Geneva 9-7.

Webster Thomas ended their league season first in Monroe County Division II with a 10-0 record (12-4 overall). Seeded fifth in the Class A tournament the Titans defeated fourth seeded McQuaid Jesuit in the quarter finals but lost to first seed Canandaigua in the semifinal in a close game (10-9) which was one of the best games of lacrosse in the tournament last season.
